해금과 재즈가 만나 바흐와 비틀즈를 노래하다.
국악평론가 윤중강 기획, 재즈피아니스트 조윤성이 프로듀싱한 여수연 2집 <에스페란자>
해금연주가 여수연의 2집 앨범이 4월 출시되었다.
바흐의 골드베르그바리에이션, 비틀즈의블랙버드를 비롯하여
조윤성 자작곡 8곡이 수록되어 해금으로 재즈를 노래한다.
2년여의 준비기간을 걸쳐 탱고, 쌈바, 힙합, 클래식, 팝에 이르기까지 다양한 음악을 하나의 음반에 모두 담아냈다.
2014년 발매된 여수연의 해금정악에 이어 2015년 재즈음반으로 다시 만나게 된 여수연의 해금.
앞으로의 행보가 더욱 주목된다

해금연주자 여수연은 대구 경북예술고등학교를 졸업하고 서울대학교에서 학사, 석사, 박사학위를 받았다.
현재 국립국악원 창작악단의 단원이며 서울대학교 국악과에 출강하고 있다. 독주회와 렉쳐콘서트, 워크샵, 한국음악 특강 등
국내뿐 아니라 해외에서도 다양한 활동을 펼치며 활동하고 있는 젊은 연주가이다.
2011년에는 미국 하와이대학교 민족음악학과에 초청되어 교환연구원으로 활동하였으며 2012년에는 유럽, 미국, 아시아 작곡가들의
현대음악 작품을 전곡 초연한 “Beyond the World"라는 타이틀의 독주회가 서울문화재단 지원사업으로 선정되어
서울 예술의 전당 리사이틀홀과 대구 수성아트피아 무학홀에서 발표되었다.
국립국악원 창작악단, 서울시 국악관현악단, 충주시 우륵국악단, 대구시립 국악관현악단과 협연하였으며
서울, 대구, 부산에서 다양한 장르의 음악으로 개인 독주회를 가졌다.
해금연주자 여수연은 활발한 연주활동과 동시에 음반작업을 하여 2014년에 1집, 전통음악 솔로앨범 “여수연의 해금정악”을 발매하였다.
SooyeonLyuh-Haegeum
Rigorously trained in court and folk repertories from a young age, SooyeonLyuh is known for her masterful performances of new
compositions for the haegeum. Lyuh has earned her BA, MA, and Ph.D. with Highest Distinction in Korean Musicology from
SeoulNationalUniversity. Currently, Lyuh serves as a lecturer at SeoulNationalUniversity and a member of the NationalGugakCenter’s creative music troupe (Gungnipgugakwonchangjakakdan), a government organization of Korea. For the past 10 years, she has performed numerous ensembles and solo pieces of Korean court music, traditional folk music, and especially contemporary music. From 2011-2012, she was a visiting scholar at the ethnomusicology department, University of Hawai’i at Manoa where she performed with foreign musicians and composers at various concerts and workshops.
Lyuh focuses on trying to internationalize Korean music through cooperation with foreign musicians and composers. By holding various haegeum workshops and concerts around the world, she hopes to accomplish this goal.
